Donington Historic Festival: PH Ticket Offer

Bigger, better and (especially for PHers) better value than ever

Last year’s Donington Historic Festival proved that one of Britain’s greatest racing circuits was back in business with 12,000 spectators watching some of the best historic races ever seen. It’s back once again for 2012 on May 5th and 6th.

Among the 300+ cars on track will be huge grids of historic single-seaters, sportscars and saloons, right through from the ‘Mad Jack’ for pre-War sportscars, to the very best 1950s and 1960s sportscars and sports-racers, to the E-type Challenge, Historic F2, Touring Cars (both pre-66, and 1966-85). The highlight of the event is the always dramatic Group C sportscars – battling it out in the hands of some of the top drivers in the sport.

Plus, of course, there’s plenty of off-track entertainment, from car clubs (there were 38 clubs forming infield displays last year) and historic karting, to the trade village and on-site Donington Grand Prix Collection museum.

The provisional weekend timetable has already been released and promises a great weekend:

Saturday, May 5th

09:00 – 13.20  Qualifying

13:20 - 14:10   Lunch Break / Demonstrations

14:10 - 14:55   ‘Mad Jack’ for pre-War sportscars

15:10 - 15:35   HSCC Historic F2 - Race 1

15:50 - 16:50   RAC Woodcote Trophy for pre-56 sportscars

17:05 - 17:35   E-type Challenge - Race 1

17:50 - 18:30   JD Classics Challenge for 1966 to 1985 Touring Cars

18:45 - 19:45   ‘1,000km’ for pre-72 sports-racing cars

Sunday, May 6th

09:00 – 10:50  Qualifying

11:05 - 11:35   E-type Challenge - Race 2

11:50 - 12:50   Stirling Moss Trophy for pre-61 sportscars

12:50 - 13:50   Lunch Break / Demonstrations

13:50 - 14:15   HSCC Historic F2 - Race 2

14:30 - 15:30   Pre-63 GT

15:45 - 16:45   Group C sportscars

17:00 - 18:00   U2TC, Pre-66 under two-litre Touring Cars

Ticket prices have been held at 2011 prices – just £18 for an advance one-day ticket and £30 for an advance weekend ticket. PHers can get an additional 25% discount by quoting discount code PHDHF12 when booking advanced tickets.

On-the-gate prices will not be available with discount, and are priced at £25 per day and £40 weekend. Children aged 16 and under are admitted for free.

Tickets can be bought via www.doningtonhistoric.com or through the 24-hour ticket hotline 0844 873 7355.

A months subscription to sky for their F1 coverage or a weekend actually at a circuit watching some excellent racing? .... I know where my money's going ..... hard luck, Bernie.

I went with my wife to be last year for the weekend, and had a fantastic time. We stayed at a little indian/ b & b and loved every minute, great atmosphere, cars and racing. Highly recommended.

A great day out at a great spectators circuit.

Hopefully the infield will be fully open this year.

Would go this year but already booked up elsewhere.

Not heard of this before but sounds excellent, can't go this year as thats the weekend I'm getting married (not sure my bride would understand) next year however! Camping, beer and cars. Perfect.

Went last year. Was immense watching the trio of Group C Jags hammer up the pit straight.
Felt like I was much closer to the action than at the Silverstone Classic.

Great offer, cheers PH

I loved the event last year......right up until I slipped over walking down the Craner Curves and snapped my Fibula.....1 week before my first race in the Ma5da championship. This year I'm going to tread VERY carefully but I'll be there.

It's not as big an event, but as mentioned above this is its second year. if people support it it will grow.

Wish I could be there. frown Love that last pic of the little Alfa clawing at the heels of its mighty GTO compatriot!

This one passed me by last year - looks fantastic and prices are very reasonable. I've already started to stock up on beer and sausages.....
