Between Junction 24 and 25 East bound, who in their right mind thinks it is a good idea to leave the roadworks in place for rush hour? 
3 lanes down to 1 resulting in delays of 170 minutes. Took me 1 hour to move about 1 mile
Surely all the cones should be cleared up by about 6am at the latest to ensure rush hour runs as smoothly as possible

Also... who in their right mind thinks that having continual stretch of roadworks for 30 miles (15 miles-ish in each direction) for several years is a good idea?
I've yet to see more than 2 groups of workmen on this entire stretch of the M62. My journey used to be 1 hour in rush hour. It's now closer to 1 and a half hours, or 2 hours if a lorry breaks down somewhere on that stretch (which it does most days).
Rediculous!! Why can't they just do a bit at a time? I really don't get it...

I do this journey once a week. It is a fooking joke at the moment.

k are they doing over the top anyway? They seem to be replacing lighting columns with, er, lighting columns that look exactly the same - there's nothing wrong with the lighting anyway. As someone has already said I have seen no more than about three workers on site at any one time.
The bit around Leeds I believe is going to become a "managed motorway" - oh joy.
As for the site speed limit, just a guess but I suspect some sort of safety meeting will have resulted in this, 11mph will get people talking/ stick in the mind more than ten. I'm a Civil Engineer (water rather than highways though) and I can imagine some bright spark will have come up with it at a meeting. It has been discussed by people at work and now on here - having the desired effect, if you went on that site you'd think about the speed limit. Only speculation though, there could be some other reason.

I heard from someone/somewhere that they're set for an average of 65mph but I don't know how true this is, if at all. I've been through them in the middle of the night at 56 without receiving anything but I'm not chancing 3 bonus points by going any faster than that.
If they do work there must be a hell of a lot of people getting tickets by the amount I see flying through at 70-80.

Last night, just as I was entering the roadworks on the M62, an advert came on the radio telling me that I wouldn't be happy if a speeding car came through my work and to "think" about those Road Workers who are working hard in dangerous conditions for my motoring benefit.
"OK" I thought - so I began counting the number of workers on the 15 mile stretch.
I exited the roadworks near the M1 just as the advert was played again (the frequency of adverts also reminding me why I don't listen to commercial radio any more) and my Road Worker count had reached a total of zero.
So yes, I was thinking about those road workers who were all sat at home, nice and warm eating their dinner whilst I was delayed trudging through that 15 miles of slow contraflow.
Maybe our highway agency need to time their awareness advetising campaigns just a little better, and in the meantime to put those costs to better use - towards these mythical Road Worker beings perhaps...?
