Anyone else noticed how in the past few years, many TV adverts now show cars with all make and model badges removed? Why is that? You know the ones: driveway windscreen repairs, car insurance or views of supermarket car-parks etc. Is it because they don't want to promote another company's product or that they not allowed to now?

I must admit I've noticed this to, it just seems completely retarded if its not in a situation that could cause the other brand to be viewed in a bad way. I can understand if its the AA or so on as it could be misconstrued that that make of car brakes down but otherwise what is the point?

I can't answer your question but in the new tesco ad (the online shopping one) they even alter the cars digitally, like audis with cut off light etc.

The Renault Fluance one really bugs me.

Guy standing on side of road ran out of petrol, his car ....... A mildly disguised Rover 200......

Who was going to be offended?

This Warranty Direct ad features a Rover 75 facelift model. The guy sits on the badge at the start, but you can see it later in the ad. And the car isn't disguised at all.

Also, the "We Buy Any Car" ads always seem to show badges.
