boxster rear compartment wont open

I have an 02 boxster and I can't open the rear compartment. I can hear the solenoid or motor whirring but it won't release. Needless to say I have stuff in there that I need to get out..... any help etc appreciated...

No, its normally in a garage at work and at home. Left it for the day. came back and couldn't open the lid

Hi sounds like cable has snapped,have a look in your owners manual for emergency release cable location.

I had that happen on mine, it was a ball ache to fix as if i remember rightly the cable runs quite a complicated path and the bumper will need to come off to replace it

Just to finish the thread off, the cable had snapped and all in I had a bill for £200 to open and replace the cable mechanism.
