Hi All,

On the lookout (with help from Podie) for a facelift Mondeo ST155 (even hatch or estate).

Now looking around the mileage (and pricing) seems to vary wildly and as i'll be looking to keep it for 18-24 months and do circa 20k a year on average i'm keen to look for something with around 40-60k on the clock (then take it up to say 90k).

No real reason for doing so (i've run cars in the past with nearly 200k) but just thinking about re-sale value...

So with that in mind i'd been thinking about going to look at this, possibly this or even the PB hatch on Autotrader that needs a wheel refurb...

However i've just seen this one which looks fantastic. It's a high miler (90k) which doesn't put me off but it does leave me wondering whether or not resale in say 2 years time with 125k on the clock will be an issue.

Also I expect the shocks etc will be getting tired...

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Phill

I bought mine with just under 90 on the clock as an ex-fleet, and it's now on 167k. It's let me down twice in the last 5 years/80k, once for the turbo intake pipe at £54, and once for the exhaust downpipe at £27.

All the ford alloys are rubbish, having worked at ford for 4 years i know all too well that anything over a 17 inch rin will have the laquer peeling off the spokes at the thought of bad weather, but I've not bothered repairing mine. A wheel place wants about £70 per wheel, but I've got better things to spend it on.

Averaging 52mpg after bluefin remap.

Maybe I've got a good one, but from my car history I doubt it, and like to think that they are just good.

Bought mine with 120k on, now got 154k. Had it 2 and a half years, ive had to replace the EGR valve and a sidelight bulb. Not bad if you ask me! (Although im pretty sure one of my injectors is on the blink)

As for the car as a whole, cant fault it. Plenty of power and you can pack it up to the rafters with kids bikes and the like. For me to replace it, I would have to find a very very good car at a very good price! Otherwise I wouldnt be interested.

Sounds good guys - how easy is it to retro-fit screens / dvd player into the rear headrest of Recaro's?

Can it be tied in with the existing rear entertainment system?

Good car that copes with mileage well they can throw up the odd big bill (dual mass flywheel injectors etc) but is just as likely to fail on low mileage (possiby even more so) as a high mileage example.

I'm off to see the fully loaded Estate on Saturday morning.

Had a good chat with the owner and it's been well looked after and is running decent tyres which put my mind at rest quite a lot.

Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers,
Phill

Any idea to value a car that is above average mileage but with a very high spec?

Does one negate the other?
