Gross I know, but my cat went through a period of weeing on our bed (he is over it now) and in places the mattress still smells. Having exhausted the pets at home range, I was wondering if anybody else had any tips or product recommendations? I really don't want to buy a new mattress as this one cost a fortune and it's bloody comfy! Thanks in advance

If it has soaked in to the matress then I would say the only way to get rid of the smell is....a new matress i'm afraid!

baking soda is good for getting rid of stubborn smells instead of masking them with other products, rub a good bit in, leave for at least an hour, hoover off... might work!

I have to second the idea above of buying a new one.

Having nursed some old cats and experienced the same it was a case of wash it (in the machine/professional cleaning) or replace.

Cat urine is a very persistent smell.

Thanks for the suggestions - I really don't want to replace if at all possible because like I said, I'm a tightwad and it is only new smile
I'll give the products a try!

the products a guesss may only be good for where it can penetrate. I'm afraid that the wee may have soaked in too much into your matress for anything to be effective.
new mattress time.
If there are any other peeing cats out there, maternity pads from the supermarket can be a good bedding / matress protector

Get an enzyme based cleaner like natures miracle, it will break down the parts that are causing the smell. You literally have to pour this stuff over all the effected area and let it soak through completely then dry naturally.

Cat pee is incredibly difficult to get rid of, once it's soaked into something. Simple solution is the best thing I've found, but it's never 100%.
