F1 cars are similarly hobbled. There are plenty of road cars with far more technology in them these days.

That's like saying an f1 engine is nominally based on a 1904 Peugeot GP* car and lacks the tech of a 1950s SLR.

That would be the Small Block Chevy. Works quite nicely in the Corvette.
