Very interesting read with some very definite criticism as well as high praise. You can always rely on Frankel to tell it properly how it is.

Quite liked this: "it reflects how well porsche understands its customers, most of whom want a car that looks like a 911 and has the image of a 911 but does not behave like one"



... and also for me sad that the evora fared so poorly.

Watching the video,made me feel a bit sad,if he's right and he is not alone in his observation that the manual gearbox is not very good.i drove the PDk which was impressive,but always would normally go manual,I must try one for myself.

I watched it and don't recall that he didn't like the gearbox as a whole, just that you couldn't select 7th from any other gear that 5th or 6th. That should hardly be a show stopper for me as 7th is of course an overdrive / fuel miser ratio for you to use or ignore as you see fit.

If you want 7th but can't be @rsed going up through all the gears then you could miss out a couple and go 1-2-3-5-7 for example - there should be more than enough torque!

The print review says the manual is not great but it is being compared to the R8 manual box.
