Eddie , it's an interesting dilemma . I'm guessing the 250 C-class is the one advertised on Car and Classic at 3500 . It looks lovely and is from a reputable dealer .
However , the 'value' in the car is in it's low mileage and condition ; if you start using it day in and day out , it's value will soon drop off . Why not buy a cheap runaround (or a higher mileage W202 for around 1500) and use the 190 as an occasional use classic .
The c250's arn't that great on fuel either .

The 190 does 30mpg and on a long run 33/34mpg, although in town low 20mpg
I believe the C250TD will do 39/40mpg and is capable of 50mpg on a long run,
I stand to be corrected on the mpg of the C250TD.
My extra mileage involves a round trip of 200 miles on average twice a week,
so I believe the C250Td makes sence on a purely economic basis.
As for build quality and desirability the 190 wins every time.

If it's pure economics , it's important to factor in depreciation .
If your 190 is an ultra low mileage car , then racking up the miles will adversly affect the value . If it's not , then the value between a mint 80'000 mile 190 and a mint 130,000 car is negligible as buyers will not be put off .
Additionally , the C250 will cost more to service and has potentially more to go wrong too . If its the MVTS car in Keighley , it looks great ; I love W202's .

He only keeps the best and he gives good advice, not what the punters want to hear.
He says the 190 is the better car but the W202 in 250TD are rarely found in good condition,and if kept that way will always be desireable
I look after my cars well and when I sell them they are usually in better conditionthan when I bought them.
