Have you had any interesting conversations while out in your Wedge?

This was today:

Decided to get the PAJ out of the garage and drive into town to the bank via the scenic route!
Pulled into the car park, Saxo with an oil drum on the back pulls into the next bay and two lads get out complete with baseball caps and jeans on back to front!
Conversation follows ….

Hey man that car looks and sounds sick! (much hand waving and two outside fingers stuck up!)
I assume this to be a compliment and reply “ thanks lads, yeah she’s a great car for a classic!”
“What’s it going to take to sound like that?”
Quickly I respond, “ Well about £5-6K for a straight one”

“kin ell bro… that’s a bit steep for a back box!”

I sigh and get my coat!!

I came out of a supermarket once and there was a guy passing who pointed at the 390 and said "I had one of those TR7s once".

I said "Oh yes, nice... er, this is a TVR".

Him: "Yes, that's what I had. A TVR TR7"...

I was at a petrol station filling up my sons car and when I went to pay the Indian guy working at the till said ' I like your Maserati' at first I didn't know what he meant as I was there filling up a Citroen Saxo, then I realised I had been there the day before filling up the Wedge and he must of seen it. I told him it is not a Maserati but that its a TVR. He looked confused and said ' but I've seen other TVR's and they dont look like yours'. Then I had to explain to him that it is a classic TVR and that's why there aren't too many about.

I've had that lots of times in UK - "A Triumph TVR" or a "TR7 TVR".... sigh....

Here in NZ, one could argue it's better because a lot of people haven't a clue what it is, and so have fewer preconceptions. You can tell the real classic fans, because they *DO* know what it is. Refreshing really. I even had one guy who asked me if it was a V6 or V8, and that's very rare here....(Yes, yes, before he saw under the bonnet...)

But then it's always spoiled by the idiots who don't know a TR7 from a Maserati from from a hole in the ground...and the racers in the Subarus...

Adam. All I have to say is 'Don't Be Cruel' because if I sell the Wedge I'll be singing 'Separate Ways' or 'A Fool Such as I' but then sitting behind the wheel of the Tuscan I could be singing 'The Wonder of You' or even 'I'm All Shook Up.

I was getting into my wedge and a bus pulled up beside and stopped , doors opened and the (slightly mad looking ) driver shouts out 'I had a 350 years ago and hit 150 on m1 , in the wet , f***ing brown trouser moment!'

Doors closed and off he went. The passengers in the bus looked ever so slightly scared.

A little lad pointed at my yellow Wedge with black lines, as I was turning left at the lights near my house and I heard him say 'dad that car looks like a bumble bee'
