Hi guys,

I'm planning to buy a GT3 and am busy with the research involved in the tricky choice between 996.1, 996.2, 996 RS, 997.1 or 997.RS. For me, each have their appeals...

A decisive factor might be exhaust possibilities:

I like my flat 6 to scream... but I also want to be able to get into the odd dB-limited trackday...

Ideally a switcheable setup like on the 997 GT3 would be ideal, with a Sharkwerks scream switcheable with std 'silent' mode.

Two questions:

1) On the 997 GT3, can the exhaust be switched independantly of the other electronics (dampers, traction ctrl, etc)? I ask because I would want the loud noise and softer suspension for road use, and the quieter noise and harder suspension for track work.

2) Is there a switcheable system for the 996 GT3? An afforable one I mean...
If so, what brand?
If not, what is the consensus on the best exhaust? (something musical and without cruising resonance)

Thanks!

Alex

the PSE button just switches the loud-button on and off - nothing else TMK!

On a 7.1 GT3 the "sport" button puts the PSE to loud, loosens the TC and ups the torque output.

The PASM switch just does the sussers - no PSE switch.

1) Yes - you have separate switches for the exhaust (the sport button), TC and PASM.
2) The only cases I have heard of are when people have had the PSE silencers from a non-GT3 put on there. Allegedly some at the end of the run left the exclusive department of the factory so equipped too. If you are going to do track days then anything non-stock carries a heightened risk of noise exclusion : I'd honestly not even consider an aftermarket option given the costs.
