What's the best convertible sports car for £30k?

Hi All

I have a budget of £30k to buy a sports car, preferably convertible. It can be a maximum of 5 years old.

I've had a Porsche Boxster S in the past, and this is looking like the likely solution again, but wondered if I'm missing out on something?

Boxster S IMO. only been in a 2005 car but it was lovely, if a bit "slow" in a straight line compared to some of the other cars i've been in. that said, it was never really wanting....

If there wasn't an age caveat my money would be going on something from Blackpool. Failing that can you get a fruity SL (55AMG?) for that?

Stick of rock? been a long time since Blackpool produced anything.

Boxster S has to be the default at that price without a roof or maybe an MX5 if all out power isn't important

Don't think the 911 Turbo will make the grade, a little too old and that particular one isn't an S as the seller advertises.

Looking for something sporty, having owned a 911 and Exige I need a good drive.

The SL's undoubtedly offer a lot of car for the money, but I don't think it will be quite what I'm after. I may be wrong, I haven't driven one before - but how do they sit dynamically?

The Z4M I do like, but not so sure on the look with the roof up.

Not a lot available at that budget - a lot can be had cheaper and there are some which are more expensive - I've been looking at similar recently myself.

Depending on what our idea of sporty is you can add the following to the list

Jag XKR Convertible
M6 Convertible
SL55 or SL65
Porsche Turbo Cab (prob too similar to what you have currently)

The Z4M is a good shout and offers more rawness than most on the list whilst retaining creature comforts and can now get a good one for £15k ish

Shame they don't do a convertible version of the Evora

997 cab, though you might feel shortchanged after the excellent 987 Boxster S or SL55 (better than 65 IMHO)

£35k buys you an F355
