Car with Private Plate

Hi..

I am buying a car with a private plate, the plate is sold with the car..

should i get a retention certificate for the old plate aswell, incase i want to sell the private number and transfer back to old one.....

I'm fairly sure that if you take off the private plate, you get the old one back anyway.

If you sell the private plate or put it on retention the DVLA will just issue you a "normal" plate to put on your car to replace the private one. Usually it's the orginal registration that car was registered with.
