Looking for a G27 wheel, buy new or 2nd hand?

Need a good wheel to go with my PC, I seem to recall a thread on here a while ago when the G27 wheel was down to about £150, now the best price is £205 from Dabs.
How well are these wheels made? Would I be mad to buy one from Ebay (most of course claim they are hardly used)?
I can just about afford a new one, but needs no spare cash for new games to bring me up to date (rF2, iRacing) or get a decent set of headphones.
Any advice from owners? How long before these wheels start to wear out?
