Breakdown cover?

Got a reminder the other day that as my car is nearly a year old the Kia Assist breakdown cover is due for renewal.

£85 a year - it's provided by the RAC and is as far as I can tell their "full" service but for that car only. European cover, onward travel etc etc etc all included.

Sound reasonable or should I be looking elsewhere?

Can't go wrong, £38 for the full shizzle. Been with them years myself and had to use them once. No issues at all and did what it says on the tin.

Except it's pay and claim so you're out of pocket until you get it back

You often get breakdown cover included if you upgrade your bank account. My other half and I pay a little each month on our joint account and amongst other benefits we get breakdown cover and travel insurance included to a good standard. I know when I compared it to buying standalone cover it was much cheaper to do it through my account.

ADAC is also often recommended as a cheap way of getting AA cover here.

I used to use them but then noticed that the small print limits the engine size of the cars they'll recover to 2.5 litres.....seems completely arbitrary.

I've easily got the best and cheapest cover. None.

In my whole motoring career (24 years) cost = £84, £3.50 a year.
Join up if you need it.

You know it makes sense.

Is the wrong answer. If you read it again it says the 2.5l engine limit is for commercial vehicles.
