The (fake) leather trim at the top of the windscreen has came unstuck from where it tucks in next to the glass and I'm finding it impossible to find anything to stick it back in place. With all my messing around I've actually made it worse, as originally only about 10cm of trim was hanging down, and now it's half the width of the screen! furious

The biggest problem is the trim appears to be too short to tuck into the gap where it's supposed to stick. If I squash down the foam as much as possible, I can just about get enough slack to insert it in place, but this causes the trim to be under quite a bit of tension which makes keeping it stuck in place tricky. The other problem is the lack of access to the sticking area due to the glass!

Has anyone else experienced this and got any advice for me? Luckily it's not too obvious due to the heavier tint at the top of the screen.

Cheers.

My brother studys architecture,

they use "spray-glue" for their projects - it's like the girl's hair foam and takes only some minutes to bond. In that meantime you can make sure, there are no bumps and the fitting is correct...if using a hair-dryer it's faster though ;-)

found that very helpful@ 5pounds (wherever you get stuff for mending and painting...)

cheers Basti

Thanks Basti

Yes, I suppose I should think about trying a better type of glue. The one you mention sounds perfect.

Guess I should also bite the bullet and rip the whole thing down and make a proper job of it. Annoying thing is, it would be 1000 x easier with the windscreen out. Last attempt at fixing it I managed to get glue all over the glass hehe

Would have thought a regular can of impact adhesive (not the water based one) would do the job and a hairdryer will make the "fake leather" more pliable and give you more to play with.

Good luck!

The problem is access to the underside of the trim.
