I purchased the subject turbo in early 2011. I really love the car. I've been reading about the different engines in various Porsches but I haven't been able to determine which one I have. Is there an easy way? Also, does anyone know where I can get some detailed information on the differences between the various engines. I guess I've been looking in the wrong places but I don't seem to be able to get more than superficial summaries.

Thanks for the help! Steve

You do not have the Mezger. You got the DFI which is a semi dry sump. Mezger (up to 2009 model) is a dry sump full serviceable racing block.

Thank you for the information. Can you point me to a site that will give me the details on the differences? I worked on my 1978 911 but haven't done much service since then. I'm not exactly sure what "fully serviceable race engine" rea;;y means. What is the designator for the engine I have and isn't it a "race tested" Porsche engine? Thanks again for your information.
