Joining speaker cable?

Hi I need to join a meter length section of speaker cable to existing cable that is slightly too short and buried into a wall. I would join it using an electrical junction box. I know for the purists this will not sit well but I don't really have any other easy options, any thoughts?

Dear God man, if different speaker cable is going to have an effect on the sound, imagine what a solder joint is going to do!

If you stagger the cut & joint in the positive and negative conductors you'll limit the risk of them shorting and prevent the need for heatshrink.
