Hi,

anyone got any general advice on the best way to defeat armed thugs in Arkham City?

I'm at the point of fining and rescuing Mr Freeze and got to the area (after the foren lake with the shark and after the brief meet with Penguin in Iceberg Lounge) where you are attepting to rescue 2 cops from the room full of armed thugs (first area where they have infra red goggles so you cant hide in the dark)

When theres one or two armed, batclaw can disarm them, but obviiously with 8-10 thats no good

I've tried the elcrtic shock gun but this does little and once I do a drop kill (where the victim is left hanging) they ping me quickly and I cant seem to escape the gun fire

Ideas welcome!

(I'd prefer general "armed thug" tips rather than a "complete the level" spoiler?)

Cheers

OK - just done it - obviously wasnt being steath enough in my approach

Think I just needed a few days away from it as I'd got frustrated and started making stupid mistakes!

Pick them off one at a time. Use high vantage points and grates and get them as they go past. Use batarang to cause a distraction and get a lone one. They give a clue if they are about to use their infrared

Cheers for the tips

Can't believe I've only recently started playing this game - my kid brother said to me at Xmas that if I liked Splinter Cell: Conviction, I'd like this, and boy was he right! - best game I've played in a long time

Would I find Arkham Asylum to much of a step back if I played it after this?

Cheers TN

Just on a level (or boss of that level in particular)in AC that to me seems way out of place to me, just that little bit too supernatural

Wont detail as I dont want to ruin it for anyone who hasnt played but I'm sure those that have played through know the one I'm on about (involves LOTS of dive bombing and climbing, which drives me nuts)

Only thing you might find restrictive with Asylum is that you don't have all the skills you have in City from the start. At the start of City you basically have all the skills you learned in Asylum.

Asylum might make a few of the City storylines make a bit more sense.

Bought Asylum this week

Now playing Asylum whilst away in the hotel with work and city at home (me, a sad videogame obsessed freak you say?....)

biggrin

Truly though, the dev team deserve every accolade given for these games, they have to rank in my top 10 (if not 5) ever - the game mechanics are just superb - so much thought must have gone into them and despite the complicated moves it all just falls into place.

Some of the Riddler trophies are driving me absolutely barmy. Am determined not to Google for help (especially as he keeps snarking at me about looking the answers up on the Internet irked ) but really struggling with a couple of'em.

Haven't managed any of the advanced AR thingies either. They're really pissing me off now - wish I could turn the markers off 'til I'm ready to have another bash.
