Tried using PH search but it was down frown.

How do you guys recommend keeping your battery charged when the car is not used (Factory battery for LS engine)

I've seen some advice recommending Battery Tenders & others trickle charging. Any advice on specific models appreciated.

Cheers Dave

You will get a few different answers on this, a few of us have the CTEK conditioner hard wired to the battery and have had no problems with them, I think they are around the £50 mark.

The wrong charger will knacker the battery. CTEK good. If you have odyssey gel type battery or similar you can get Charger/conditioner specially for it as normal ones they say can do damage.

I use an Optimate. My Red Top battery is nearly 12 years old and still going strong.

I've got a Banner Accuguard. Had it for a while, used it on the Atom, great piece of kit :-) For the Ultima, I'll probably put a fixed fly-lead on the battery to make plugging it in easier.... I did this with the Speedster and it just saved trying to get to the batter each time to needed a trickle.

Just drive the thing, I put trickle chargers on a lot of my cars (Tvr's, Ferrari's etc) but have never actually used them. With the frequency you drive your cars Dave (when you get an engine in it that is) you won't need a charger. I'd concentracte on getting the thing built never mind cahrgers and sum screen visorsbiggrin

LOL. More worried about battery still being charged by time I've built it wink

Just found out yestderday that you need to make sure your trickle charger is sufficent (AMPs) for the battery installed (Ahr).

This is epecially true on modern cars with larger batteries to run all the electronic.

I've got a couple of CTEK and a Banner and they have worked well for years.
