So Friend of mine pops round today asks if I can carry out a full engine service on his 2002 Almera Tino.

Last serviced over 5 years Ago WTF

Anything I should carry out over and above the following

air,oil & fuel filters
aux drive belts
plugs
eng oil

brake fluid (Every 2 years).

check power steering fluid, discs/pads, handbrake adjustment.

Bet they havent checked their tyres either?

Did the brakes for him last year....assumed he was having it garage serviced at each MOT.

Had a friend ask me to fix a misfire for him, whilst working on it it came up that it hadn't been serviced since he bought it 3 or 4 year before. He thought you service a car when you buy/sell it to make sure there are no problems, otherwise you just change things when they break!

Add the coolant to the list & gearbox oil if your feeling enthusiastic pollen filter if it has one will probably be blocked solid & I would also check the spare as if it hasn't been serviced in 5 years chances are its not been checked either

Lube the bonnet catch, indeed all the hinges. If the car is black, use loads of the spray on white grease - I always love to see that. rolleyes
