Love the CR and spyder but its a shame they specced the rear brakes so teeny with 19s.
i agree. Somehow I didn't just want to spec the PCCB brakes for looks and may/will regret this. However, i also think that black wheels exacerbate the problem visually.Notwithstanding this, I had a debate with fellow rennlist forum users re the standard brakes and feel. On my spyders, I prefer the modulation of the standard brakes because I find the PCCBs more sensitive (mind no where close to Audis and BMWs). Meaning, I get to heel toe better because brake travel is longer and linear. It does seem like more rennlisters prefer a shorter, firmer pedal and even find the PCCBs too soft and long. SO, they change the master cylinders to GT3 ones for both PCCB and standard. Apparently not a difficult swap. TBH, I didn't notice that GT3 RS (with PCCBs) had a firmer pedal than mine either.
Back to the point, I hate the looks but actually prefer the utility of the standard brakes. Coupled with the fact that I don't see myself tracking more than 4 X a year and will mostly do road driving, I know I won't be maximising the big yellows.
Lastly, the 5k price is a 1-time offer only. Replacement PCCB disc are costly and big steel ones will add unwanted and unnecessary weight. I know they shouldn't need replacement if driven sympathetically (not overcooked on track) but if you inadvertently chip the discs through taking off the wheels, the result is the same. I get PCCB paranoia whenever I need to change tyres...

Mind, not that I wouldn't have gotten PCCBs if they cost much less, it's just that given the way I drive, I am better off saving the 5k budget on tyres.....which have a greater influence on me.
