All,

Had the car 6 months, had a major service but no idea which oil the chap (a specialist) used....and now I need to top it up.

Any ideas what he might have used?

Anyone servicing an Alfa worth his salt would have used Selenia Oil, expensive but worth it...

Have you tried giving him a bell to see what he used ??

Unless he posts here and your saving yourself the cost of a call ??

Nah, he doesn't post here.... It's just it's Sunday night and if he's got any sense he's not at the workshop!

I'm taking the car over to France tomorrow and found that the oil needs topping up. Assuming it is Selenia, can I top it up with something like Magnatec in the meantime or is that going to react nastily?

Magnatec unless you can get it in a 10/40 will be a bit light. Just use any semi-synthetic 10/40, after all its only going to make up a tiny (i hope) percentage of the oil in the engine.

I'm also wondering what to put in my 3.0 V6 - Is there a particular reason for using Selenia? I use Shell Helix 10w/40 in my 944, can I not just use this?
