Next car for £7k?

Hi all,
the S4 will be going up for sale within the next couple of months due to wanting a change.

I've got around £7000 to play with and I am so indecisive of what to go for.

The biggest decision I've got to make is what type of car I want.

I am desperate for a V8 for some reason, so was looking for things like a Vauxhall Monaro or something similar.

On the other hand I was thinking going down the 'sports' car route with either an s1 Elise or a VX220.

I know that they are totally different breeds of car which is why I'm now thinking of maybe a TVR Chimaera 4.0. I get the V8 in the small nimble body.

Are there any other thoughts?

I will be using the car as a daily, weekend tool and an occasional track day toy so reliability is ideal (I can do the spannering)

As was said in another thread, the title of which escapes me. You have 7000 notes to buy a V8/Elise/TVR, which probably won't get you a prime example. So what is your contingency fund?

I did search for other threads but couldn't find anything relevant.

I have the sale of my S4 so circa 3k as emergency funds

A Chimaera sounds like your best option.

No more likely to be unreliable than the Elise based options and likely to be better for home spannering.

Buy a sorted one and you'll love it.
