Morning All,

I have run a CL63 for a couple of years but, over the last year or so have become somewhat disillusioned with its drive. Whilst it's massively comfortable it's somewhat uninvolving and doesn't really give you the confidence to throw it around a great deal. I appreciate that it's a big car but I thought that's what AMG's are all about. As well as having a slow gear change, my biggest complaint about the car however is that at high speed the car didn't track particularly well, moving left and right and feeling as though the front wheels had become particularly light. I had the car re-mapped by DMS and at the same time Rob applied a suspension tweak to drop it slightly however even with this and doing the obvious such as checking the tyre pressures and tracking I still couldn't sort it.

Anyway, yesterday I agreed to buy a 2010 C63 AMG with the PPP and LSD. I appreciate that it's a somewhat different car but would be interested to hear from anyone who has had experience of driving them both and could tell me what major differences I can look forward to experiencing.

Cheers,

J

I haven't tested these back to back but have driven both and currently own a PP C63 but not the Plus.

I would say that you will immediately realise that your previous CL63 is much more sedate and even more comfortable to a degree.

The C63 IMO has more of a bark but that may be my memory fading!

The PPP will give a more feel and the ride will be much harsher - the steering feel is something that will be mroe pronounced.

I still never feel that the C63 is as chuckable as an M Car - it may be due to the whole 7 speed auto box vs my E90 M3 that I had which was manual.

I think the C63 should fulfill what you want whilst still retaining come practicality.

I had a test drive in a PPP Coupe last week and it's on the short list for my next car (currently drive an E92 M3). It felt a lot heavier but with better feel through the steering and in a straight line was laugh out loud fast. The noise on the overrun in Sport+ and the downchanges were accompainied by a small explosion from the exhausts. It is a 'feel good' car and I could not stop smiling for the rest of the day. The only fly in the ointment is that I test drove a 997 GTS a week beforehand.

So I got the car yesterday. New tyres have been fitted and after two narrow escapes at roundabouts due to tyre sheen and a bit of water, I'm really into it. The straight motorway cruising isn't as comfortable (boring!!) as the CL and it lacks the torque however it seems to rev a lot more freely and the gearbox is definitely much improved.

What really surprised me is how well it sits at speed. Given we are on a public forum I probably won't confirm my precise speed suffice to say it was significant. The CL had a tendency of swaying a little where as the C simply sits planted which was particularly helpful when I had to slam on the anchors when I was flat in 6th and some muppet decided to pull out of a petrol station!!

Anyway so far so good...hope to get out on a hoon soon!!
