Sorry to keep pestering you guys about the drive train - still learning and obviously some way to go!!
So having got the driveshafts out its replace the CV joints time - having cleaned the grease off, removed the outer circlip and released the cv boot what is the knack to getting them off?
Does the whole joint tap off in one go and is it a simple matter of bashing it off?
Thanks

When you've removed the outer circlip (from the end of the driveshaft)and released the rubber boot it's just a matter of pulling the whole CV joint off the shaft. In practice, having taken care to protect exposed surfaces and with another pair of hands as 'catcher' I placed the driveshaft vertically between the open jaws of a vice with the CV joint sat on top of the jaws and then gently drifted the driveshaft out.
It seams that some CV joints are a tighter fit on the driveshaft than others.

When i did mine i couldnt budge them, no matter how much i clattered them. I ended up having to press them off at a local garage. The garage commented that they were rediculously tight. I got new driveshafts and cv's. The new joints slid nicely onto the new shafts with just a slight tap with a hammer. Nothing like as tight as the old ones.
