Anyone suggest an alternative to speedy cables? I'd rather not be without for the 4-6 months they seem to be taking at the moment.

Sadly I'm afraid I can only confirm that the service I received was far less than speedy. Eight weeks IIRC.

I couldn't find anyone else to repair mine though.

Ta everyone. Will give the link that Daz put up a ring. Suppose the alternative is to look for a known working 2nd hand one.

Yes pretty sure - Speedo only works over 15mph. have changed the sensor and problem remains. I also have had the gap checked a couple of times and that seems fine. So think the speedo its self must be at fault

Seems an expensive fix for something that's working over 15mph .... Espeically as i can't imagine much time is spent below 15. I've also heard that speedy are deadly slow, good news is i suppose you'll get it back just in time for the nice weather coming back round !

Sounds like it could be the sensor box under the dash.

What did you set the sensor gap at?

I ask, because my new sensor only worked at speeds over 30mph until I got the gap right. I used a feeler guage and set the gap at 6 thou'

yes This, mine was the same. I thoroughly cleaned the wheel and sensor using solvents and used some fine emery paper on the toothed wheel. It was trial and error thereafter to get the "perfect" gap. Speedo works a treat now.
They are very tempremental, the slightest bit of dirt etc can make them misbehave. Well worth a try cleaning everything.

Haven't tried them but this firm had a good write-up in one of the classic mags.

Ho no sent mine off to Speedy Cables last month but I need it back as I'm going to Scotland at the end of March and need to get my car to the garage to sort an oil leak, sounds like I'll not get it back for July and France. I'll start chasing it now, if I knew it would be that long I would have looked at it myself and took a chance.
