I'm thinking of doing some airfield days soon, and have been told that applying helicopter tape (clear tape) to the leading edges is a good idea.

How does this stuff come? Is it really sticky and hence liable to pull the paint off when removed? I had some of the paint come off when I stuck one of those "universal indicators" to the side of the car and had to reposition it -- fortunately the indicator now covers the area of paint removed!

You can buy this clear "helicopter" tape from most good traditional sports shops, it is called "antiscuff" and is used for facing and protecting new cricket bats......

Was originally developed by the American military for protecting Helicopter rotors from flying birds......

If you have trouble obtaining it e-mail me as I supply it.....

Can't promise it won't take the paint off though......

Warming the tape up with a hairdryer may loosen the adhesive prior to removal.

Could be the ideal stuff for the inside of the wheel arches though where the painted gets chipped off...
