What is the consensus of opinion on using aftermarket discs/pads such as Zimmerman discs & Textar or Pagid pads instead of OEM on a 993?

Come to think of it who is the OEM supplier?

Textar pads are the OEM pads, and they are made by the same company as Pagid (TMD Friction GmbH). I fitted some Textar this afternoon to my RS, and in the past have compared the Textar pads to Porsche ones. Absolutely no difference - incl down to the same Textar marking on the back and same part no.

For Textar, I go to Euro car parts which are much cheaper than Porsche main dealers.

If you take your car on track often, I wouldn't bother with the anti-squeal shims and pad wear sensors as you'll save a fair bit without them. I tend to change the pads every few months and therefore wear sensors are not needed - I go by track mileage.

The aftermarket disks rust on the hubs. Not a performance issue but it looks very scruffy. I gave up with them and now fit Porshce disks - worth the additional £30 or so a disk feeling I will get it back when I sell the car.

Zimmerman disks do rust on the hubs. An easy fix is a tin of hammeright silver paint.

The OEM ones are coated with zinc oxide which gives them that greyish-silver look. It also withstands the heat.

There is a slight bit of blistering (you'd have to look close) - next time I will use the high temprature paint. But these have been used extensivly on tracks days and trips to the ring. In fact you cant even see the silver paint now as they are covered in brake dust

I use Pagid orange on my 993rs, incredible stopping power but incredibly noisy unless pushed hard. Not really road friendly.
