Lately I've been posting overly negative. So I felt it was time to again find the love of cars and tinkering with said cars that brought me here.

I would of posted this in the "who has the best garage" thread, but I felt this was more of a clean out of my mind, to forget the "scene" and my problems with it and get away from almost very very lorries and what not. This weekend was dedicated to finding my little niche with cars and why I push myself to debt just to own interesting ones.

I hope the replies to this thread show your own journeys to your own little corner of the car lovers world and where you go to hide, repair, rebuild and prepare your pride and joy/s.

First of all I started by emptying out my garage, there was a lot of stuff. I cannot believe the amount of tools, parts and general stuff that the thought of throwing away when it might come in handy one day filled me with dread I had.

I then swept out the place. In the summer i intend to properly hoover the floors and paint them, but seeing as I had 3 layers on and was still a bit chilly, it wasn't the most appropriate time to start painting and leaving stuff outside.

Well with the place pretty clean time to put everything back. I attatched the white metal shelves together, cut down the top bit and fixed it to it to make another bit of storage area. It was originally part of my wardrobe, but when I did some decorating, I really didn't want to throw it away. Managed to get everything back in with a bit more space than before.

So there we have it. A little boring to read probably, but to me it was good to get back out into the garage and find out that im doomed to enjoy this stuff for a while to come.

This year I'll be digging up the inspection pit to 5.5ft rather than the 4ft it's at now. I'll be sorting out the roof and making a box outside to house the compressor and running air lines to 2-3 points in the garage when I decide to make the leap to air tools.

Please share with me your garages and the work that made them yours.

Nice! That little nook with the bench in makes a lot more of the space in there. Envious! I only have a single pre-fab with a bench at the back.

The inspection pit is pretty nice. My grandad has one. He recently put a cover over the grill, as too much dust was getting in.

Right now mine is half full of sand as the sides have collapsed. It's safe but its a pain to work in now as its so shallow. When the weather heats up a little, but not too much that i'll want the MR2 out all the time, I'll put it on the pad to the side and get a skip and finally dig it out, sure up the sides with some concrete and get some lighting installed in there.

Bench space at the back must be really bloody useful.

That looks like the making of a great garage.

Get it painted, hang some inspirational motorsport memorabilia/pictures on the wall, install iPod dock and camping chair. Polish/sort tools. Live man-cave dream.

Thought i'd update it, dunno if this should be moved to readers rides as the MR2 has gone to a new home and the garage is about the only motoring thing i have now.

Having spent the last 2 weekends digging out the pit from 3 and a half foot with a nice deep sand bottom, to a 5 and a half foot to 5ft tapered floor i thought it was time to update and add a picture, see if anyone else has any other daring projects going on right now.

I apologise for the picture quality, but im stuck to phone camera right now and the break in the horrible weather has made it awfully bright outside.

So heres the updated checklist.

Concrete the sides where trees that have been cut down years ago caused hell.
clean pit floor and screed
Create a lip around pit for cleaning and painting of garage floor
paint garage floor
refurbish workbench and add welding plate

Ambitious but seeing as the sun keeps coming out when i have no car to hoon in it'll stop me from going stir crazy.
