Pajero Evolution
Discussion
Anyone had any experience with one?
One has come up for sale just around the corner from my house and it has intrigued me. Google and Wikipedia (the usual sources for finding out about unknowns) don't throw up a lot to be honest.
Not really a potential buy, but you never know

Always liked the ide of an Evo but I think you can't be shy & retiring

A friend of mine ran one of these for a couple of years and though it was fairly quick, it was an absolute nightmare in terms of parts - both in price and rarity. Every single nut and bolt seemed to be unique to Evo, so he had to order parts from Japan for a price. It was fun, but boy he was so happy getting rid of it.
Took one in p/ex for another car a few years ago, which I kept for maybe 6 weeks before I got shot for a landy.
They're good fun, surprisingly quick but not 'fast', peach of an engine, crap autobox, pig of an interior which begs to be stripped, caged and a pair of buckets in. Parts prices made my GTR look like a budget motor, and finding them is going to be their biggest downfall. Expensive insurance, dread to think what it's like these days.
That being said, they're a huge amount of fun, pretty good off road, good fun to grab by the scruff of the neck in bad weather. They sound amazing on the boil, would like to have put a fruity exhaust on. MPG in the teens too.
