My Griffith 500 has a flexible coupling between the exhaust front pipe and silencer box, see picture. It has been damaged and has been deteriorating for some time and I think that now is the time to replace it (I first asked about this 4 years ago but put off getting it replaced).

Can anyone tell me what the i.d. and o.d. of the flexible section should be?

I don't think it's possible to replace it with one of the woven strand type coupling because they are too large diameter - there's very little space between the chassis and the exhaust as it is.

Thanks.

I have the same problem, spoke with JP Exhaust who made them and they want £195 for an overhaul - replace flexi and re pack silencer. Cant help with pipe sizes though. Have you had your diff back and fitted it yet?

Racing Green sell the section to repair the flexible joint for just under £50

Thanks for your replies.

At the moment my exhaust system is with a local specialist who is going to try and source some 70mm (1 3/4") ID stainless steel flexible pipe to match the existing. It's quite likely that he may have some spare sections for sale when he's done mine.
