Morning all

I'm going to change the dreaded engine bay fuel hoses. Just want to make sure they are 5/16" ID? Is 4 foot more than enough for the job?

If that equates to 8mm internal diameter then yes. As for length it depends where your copper pipes finish. Many cars vary. If it was me i think i would get a couple of meters for what it costs. If you have too much you can always re use it next time you change them. Get the best quality you can find.

If your car is similar to mine the copper lines will not have profiled ends just plain cut tubing so better to use 2 clamps to be safe and buy proper fuel clamps. Mine leaked initially with a single clamp!.

So if I go for 2 metres roughly 6 foot of hose and clamp everything twice will I need 12 clamps?

My pre cat certainly had formed ends on the copper pipes, I found it impossible to refit the hoses without removing the transverse air pipe at the bulkhead for the drivers footwell air vent, if yours is so equipped. In fact, getting the original fuel hose clamps off was interesting as the screw slots faced towards the bulkhead on my car.
Dont forget to do the hoses at the rear whilst your at it, apart from the tank outlet the fuel filter hoses are the same size as under bonnet.

Will 2 metres cover that too?

Might be a bit tight, although you only need a couple of short lengths at the back. I'd get an extra metre just to be sure, so you have some spare, always useful to have in stock if you dont use it.

Top tip, a quick blast of silicon spray makes the pipes all but fall on yes

I was only referring to the two copper pipes around the bulkhead area (i.e. to and from the tank). All the other terminations had flared ends.

You may even have flared ends on the two I had a problem with, in that case 1 clamp per end OK.
