Hotel room excercises?
Discussion
Had a quiet few months so I have been going to the gym 3 times a week since after christmas.
But now the job that is slowly killing me is getting busy again
Last week cardiff tommorrow oxford then dublin the scotland
So thats loads of beers a night and loads of food all on exes and I have no will power to turn it down.
not all the hotels have gyms so what can I do in teh room (apart from right forarm)
Obviously sit ups and press ups but How do I do shoulders and biceps etc etc? ive made some good prgress and dont want to let it slip.
Any ideas welcome
Thanks in advance
Dips using a chair/bed/desk/dresser.
Suitcase on back for press ups.
Bulgarian squats with one foot on bed/chair. Hold suitcase for extra weight.
Handstand press ups against wall or feet on bed/chair/desk (depending on how good you are), essentially making sure your upper body is vertical so you're working the shoulders more than the chest ie hips bent 90 degrees.
Bent over rows with your briefcase/travel bag/suitcase.
Overhead press with suitcase.
Hang under desk for horizontal rows.
Need any more?

There is NOTHING you can do alone in your room that will deal with "loads of beer and food".
I agree but it will lessen the effects plus I feel a lot better since I started who knows if I stick with it I may get somewhere close to when I used to be fit.Although I have not lost weight yet which is very dissapointing my body is chaning shape. Instead of just fat b
d Im starting to look abit like fat b
d retired doorman which I suppose is a bit better but not really what I was aiming for. Thanks for the suggestions.
Pull up bar is a good idea but a bit advanced just yet. I am not built like a twig and my biceps whilst developing quite nicely still have a long long way to go. Plus I imaging the door falling in would be quite embarresing

Running up the stairs hmm don't think I could manage too much of that either but I imagine it would be a very good thing.
As for the others I will have to google some of them. Dips of course! yes good idea I can do those. Will look for this desk idea you speak of. Shoulders is the only thing I dont think I could do properly.
Anything more for teh biceps in particular?
oh and i dont take a suit case perhaps I should buy a heavy one.

Bent over rows with a suitcase/briefcase/sportsbag stuffed with stuff will work the back and the biceps.oh and i dont take a suit case perhaps I should buy a heavy one.
Add lunges to the list. Bit easier than Bulgarian squats so you can do more and make it a cardio activity.
Are you in a car or flying? I ask due to weight / size considerations.
Perhaps a set of Iron Woody style bands and a bar to attach it to. You can get bands of different resistance levels for working different muscle groups. These will not weigh a lot, take up much space and will also you to do resistance work for all body parts.
Ideas should be available on YouTube.

Dude...you're fat bloke that cant run upstairs, cant resist stuffing yourself with beer and food but want some bicep exercises??? Get a grip...and I dont mean on a trouser press and start banging out dead lifts!

A bit mean! But you have a point re focusing on other more useful exercises.

Oi I can run up stairs! not just not for long or often. baby steps, baby steps!I have a weak will. I go to breakfast and fill a bowl with some manky fruit and the waitress comes over and says would you like full English this morning sir?
I know I should say no thank you but I cant, just like I cant say to my colleagues "No thanks I'll have a water " while they sit there drinking beer and sticking it on the room.
And just what the f
k am I supposed to do when customers/colleagues insist on going to an all you can f
king eat chinese (God I hate those places)Am I suppsed to go up and get some lettice or stay in my room 3 nights a week?
The guy I am working with in Ireland has it already planned out I expect to put on 1/2 a f
king stone! Anywayyyyy
FYI I have been doing 3 hours, 2 hours ( with 2 other guys ) on weights and 1 hour cardio, 3 times a week. with the odd extra just cardio session inbetween for 2 hours 1 hour on cross trainer 1 hour on walking machine. Oh and a couple of spinning classes but I don't like those they hurt my bottom.
its a mixture of Car and plane so heavy stuff is out most of the time.
Anyway guys thanks for the input I've been looking around youtube there is quite a bit of stuff on there describing the things you are on about.

I expect some scepticism but with additional/variable cables a brilliant bit of kit. I take mine to hotels when working away/ on holiday + in the gym regularly too.
You can use one, two or three cables - short or long - and the resistance goes up to 100lb per cable with many permutations from 300lb down to 10lb. Feels different to weights with less effect on the eccentric/negative part of reps - though it still needs a fight to resist its natural 'want' to shorten - but the positive part feels good with a constant tension feeling hard to get on many weight exercises and providing a really good, sharp contraction.
My brother was very cynical about it, until he tried one and bought his own.

1) Just eat the bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs. Leave the toast and cereal.I know I should say no thank you but I cant, just like I cant say to my colleagues "No thanks I'll have a water " while they sit there drinking beer and sticking it on the room.

3) Leave the rice and noodles. Go crazy with the meat and veg.
And do a massively heavy weights session the night (1) or morning (3) before you eat.
Nothing wrong with eating a lot if you have a use for the fuel... you don't do short journeys and keep the tank fuelled to the brim.
