Sun is up earlier, the last of the ice has hopefully disappeared.

I fancy getting out for a wee drive later in Feb. Short notice, I know, but if anybody else is up for it?
Early start, same plan as the ones Balders organised last year, departing North Leeds/Otley-ish, finish up with coffee and a bacon sarnie somewhere.

Will probably be too early (in the year, not day) for me as I'm not sure I'll have my Puma on the road by then, but when I do, yeah I reckon it'd be fun. I'm only a mile from the airport.

I was just about to ask the same question after the last one was called off.

If I'm not working I'd be up for a run out.

Depending on what day I'm probably game, hopefully. I'm going to be doing a few runs this year again, but I'll wait till it's a bit warmer/lighter for mine I think smile

Ah, I'm doing an Otley Run with old uni friends for old times sake on the night before so not a chance I'll be out of bed before the afternoon let alone in any state for a dawn drive! Especially as I haven't had anything to drink since November! Next time!

No good either as I have clients (I'm a PT) every Saturday morning. Don't worry about me, I'll just tag along next time.

We will probably be out bright and early this Sunday as it's due to be sunny, and even sunnier over near the coast! It will be in the slower, quieter car though, with the roof off smile

Al
Can you PM me some routes between Leeds and the coast? I was thinking about taking Calum across while Paola is off at some Spa in Harrogate. Might as well make the drive interesting. Any good coastal stop off or cafe's?
Cheers

But nobody knows who you are! History is good smile

As for the route, it depends what time of the day and whereabouts on the coast Andy.

Scarborough and above, from Leeds/Otley I would go back road over the tops up towards Harrogate via Leathley and Beckwithshaw, then up to Riopon and across towards Thirsk then the A170 through Helmsley either to Scarborough or, turn north at Pickering over Fylingdales (or earlier at just after Kirkby Moorside and go over Blakey Ridge up towards the A171).

Scarborough and below you could try our East Yorkshire Dawn Run routes (best early in morning though) which you need to get over to Selby - Holme on Spalding Moor - Driffield (not quite, Bainton actually) - North on B1248 to Wetwang, then north again still on 1248 down to Fimber roundabout then, either north to Malton - Pickering - Fylingdales or, turn right to Sledmere then onto B1253 to hit the B1249 Driffield - Scarborough road.

To be honest Andy, check the map out and, if the roads look good, they usually are smile

The A roads do get very busy during the weekends though, hence we always go out early.

Sorry, cafes!

If you go the Thirsk route which may be easier and you are during the day which you may be as you have Callum then about a mile or so after you have gone up Sutton Bank there is a lovely pub on the left

In Scarborough we like sitting upstairs at the trendy little glass fronted cafe place on North Marine Drive.

If you go East Yorkshire then you have the bikers cafe (Seaways I think) at Fridaythorpe near Fimber or, the Wolds Inn which is just on the roundabout after Bainton.

Oh, if you meant the West coast, forget all the above! smile

I'm busy trying to work out routes across from Le Mans into Italy, taking in a few of the passes but not taking too much driving/time out of the holiday. Doing my ruddy head in!

I had a couple of routes laid out, starting from Interlaken area as I was going to be down myself. Can send them over to you if you want.
