There is a red wire attached to the battery, which runs under the passenger foot mat and backwards. There is a 20a fuse in a black case along this wire. I removed the fuse and everything seems to still work fine.

Anybody know what this wire/fuse is for ?

It's a common method to wire in a charging point?

It's not a massive cable, more a wire. This is the housing for the fuse..

Stumped..

However, now just realised that the passenger door will not open from the outside. curse However, I think this is unconnected to wire in question, just a general WTF TVR moment. rolleyes

I've got exactly the same thing!!! red wire goes from the battery, under the matt, through a hole into the sill then pops out again and disappears into the B pillar! I've disconnected it and everything still works!!

You've actually just reminded me of that fact, so I'm gonna make it my mission to find out where it goes tomorrow!!!

If I find out I'll report back.

Okay. I traced said red wire and found loads of it in the B pillar and with some gentle persuasion managed to unravel it to find a bullet connector which sent it off as a purple wire up into the roof bar for the interior light!
The reason I never noticed this before is that my door pins have never switched my interior light on, but instead they work for the alarm. This morning however I decided to flick the switch on the interior light and realised it does work (permanent on) with this red wire connected, but doesn't work in the door switch position.

Hope this helps.

It may well help. I will have a dig round and see if this is the same in mine! Although I'm pretty sure now that it's for the amp behind the passenger seat.

Cheers
