Hi all,

Has anyone got a name of someone that could possibly sort the electrical gremlins on my 5 series touring? In short the wires that run through the rear hatch need looking at as they have probably split shorting out the lock on the hatch and causing the key fobs to no longer work?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Paul Richards 07808 728889

Not a recommendation, just someone gave me his number a while ago but I didn't need him in the end. Whatever you do...do not use Graysons just off Woodseats Road.

If no luck with Paul Richards try Peter Simons 07880 891134, he's is an E30 Specialist but he may know someone.

quarry motors may be your best option as they specialize in BMW's and they have all the diagnostic equipment needed

Cheers guys. Went to Graysons, said it was too hard for them, they suggested quarry and also a price of about 450 quid.

Its not that hard a job, just fiddly.

Will ask on the numbs above too.

Ah but its not.

The wires run through the black cover on the hinge (Ive not worked out how to get that off without damaging it)from under the speaker to the tailgate. I believe the easiest fix is to pull the wires through, strip them and fix the broken ones. Should be relatively easy if you've done it before.

Thanks thats dead useful.

Another issue I have is the glass only opens on the trunk when it feels like it on its own due to the micro switch or this wiring problem. Anyway when its shut getting access to those wires isnt easy.

I dont think its those thats the problem tho, the main harness where it connects to these.

My central locking isnt working and thats related the ariel on top of the car apparently.
