I just received an email notifying me that Hertz is now doing supercar hire: http://www.hertzsupercars.com/special-offers/

If it wasn't for the 100 mile limited mileage I'd be maybe be tempted to give it a go. Having said that though if you were to splash out on the hire of the Rolls Royce and you had an accident you'd be in big trouble - £7500 excess! yikes

And no damage waiver either. Scary.

I got that as well. Obviously my standard Class B (Corsa) rental makes me a prime demographic for this product. biggrin

Would it be possible to get an excess waiver through a third party??

100 miles a day limit. So I could go to Silverstone, but not home again. Great.

I think that's the general idea.

Depends... is it a per day limit or within 24hrs?
After midnight is technically a new day

Seems better than Avis Prestige - you only get 50 miles on a Ferrari 458 with them.

Just did a quote on a C63AMG, its a higher charge to rent from Manchester and Birmingham than airports in the south.

£670 a day for an SLS convertible!

Wish I was brave enough to risk the damage excess!

Surely they cant just let any numpty trot up and borrow an LP560 or McLaren yikes

I wonder if they measure tread depth and fit trackers to these cars.

I can imagine how a rented McLaren would be treated, even after 100 miles some serious wear could be inflicted. £1k rental charge would barely cover some new tyres!!

Knowing what most hire companies are like, I wouldn't touch those with a bargepole unless you can get the damage waiver thrown in.

It's like renting at the ring. I took out an old 968 CS with a damage excess equivalent to the price of a standard 968!

That's my point!

A few minutes of googling means you'd find a few horror stories from the rental companies inventing damage or being particularly anal over a scratch which they didn't seem bothered about at the time of pick-up.

I got the email as well.

I used to use Hertz all the time, was very happy with their service.

Got the upgrade to gold then platinum member, then noticed the liability on every rental!

Haven't used them since!
