Advice / Guidance Please - Engine Mods / Upgrades
Discussion
New to forum - so hello to everyone.
S2 going in for service this week and has got me thinking about upgrades - haven't tinkered much with it to-date other than K&N panel filter, Jan speed exhausts and momo detachable wheel - other than that: standard. Don't know much about cars but would appreciate suggestions on getting more top-end speed - without "major" work to engine (limiting a reduction in reliability). Any suggestions and more importantly recommended places in Southeast area would be greatly appreciated. Aiming for an increase to around 160 bhp??

To get 160bhp you will need a modified head and cams - check out www.dvapower.com
with a few bolt ons like exhaust, induction kit and sports cat you should get 135bhp

Hi Mate and Welcome
If your aiming for 160BHP you will need the following for a start.
Decent Induction Kit - Pipercross Viper/Hurricane/ITG
De-Cat pipe
Sports Exhaust - you already have this
Then head to DVA Power in Milton Keynes
With some hot cams and a new ECU you will be looking at about 145BHP. Make sure you get the verniers for both the inlet and exhaust valves so the timing can be set up really well.
Next is head work. This can come in various tune from mild to wild!!
Porting and polishing will give you approx 160BHP if you retain the standard valve sizes but if you go for bigger valves you could be pushing 170BHP - !!!!!
But - Always budget for a full rolling road set-up. this will mean you can map your engine exactly, this will mean more power but less chance of the engine running lean at the top end of the rev range.
If you scroll back a page or two in the topics you will see a thread about K&N Filters - this deals with this subject in more detail.
Happy to Help

Does the 111R have the same engine mounts as a 'normal' S2? ie, how hard is it to drop in the Toyota 190 engine in a non 111R Elise?
Not sure about engine mounts etc, but the front end of the car is totally reworked to include the ABS and Brake Servo, and the rear exhaust exits centrally rather than to the sides of the rear
yup - see www.auto-teknix.co.uk/ for the Audi conversion..guess you could get it to 450bhp...but dunno how long it would last !
