How playable is Forza 3-4 offline?

The lack of internet etc means I can't go online. While GT5 is fairly playable offline, how is Forza?

I don't want to spend a load of money and find I can't use it...

I'd say Forza is more playable off-line, than GT5.
Whereas with GT5, I get most of my kicks on-line.

That's good to know.

My only experience with any Forza game was a brief mess around with a white and blue fiesta.

Why get 3 and 4?

Just get 4.

I had a quick blast on Forza 3 at a mates house last week and it feels quite different to 4. Not in a good way.

Because I've played a little bit of 3, quick blast in a Fiesta only, but I liked it.


Plus, I like having the older games because there are usually features in them that got removed/altered in newer games. (GT3/4/5 being a very good example)

Forza 4 is better than 3.....but it's your money.

The only thing that got removed is tracks, but I wasn't a great fan of most of the removed ones. FM4 is much improved in terms of the handling model, lighting, and flames coming out of the exhaust. Also you get more cars on track (maximum of 11 AI cars plus you, or 16 cars online)

It is very playable offline, the main travk that got removed was New York.

Fm4 drives a lot better than Fm3 did.

Also Le Mans Bugatti (which is pants anyway) and the Sidewinder proving grounds (which was made up and very annoying). The only one which is really missed is a long made up track based on the Amalfi Coast, but TBH it wasn't all that brilliant. Instead you get a made up track in the Alps which is nice and fast, and the Nurburgring GP track is on disc instead of DLC.

For me, FM4 is all about online play. Not just racing, but storefront , auctions, rivals and then the ability to create your own custom race when you want endurance racing.

It's probably ok offline, but I would be bored of it by now.

Forza 4 has enough to keep you occupied offline for a period, but I don't have Xbox Live (I should get it while its a quid!) but I am most definitely bored of it now. It's fair enough making all these wonderful and whacky conversions and paints but the AI don't care about those and they're pretty consistent so racing is just the same. Just updating GT5 as I type because I'm hankering for some online play!

Really no need to get 3 and 4 since 4 is just 3 with a few improvements.

4 is a more polished forza 3 (they even share the same custom wheels etc)
I would just get forza 4...not really worth getting both of them.

Although i find the menu on 3 far better.
Depends if you like exhaust flames i guess.

Thanks for your opinions.

In the end, I did get both 3 and 4, as 3 was in a 2 for X deal.
And both TDUs.

First impressions of them:

4 - Menu isn't as inviting as 3, and for reasons I don't know, the in race graphics aren't as good as 3 on my TV. It feels like an updated version of 3 really. The LM prototype and group C cars are easier to drive than in 3.

3 - Haven't played it that much, just made a pink with yellow stripes Focus with a 740 bhp 5.6L engine...

(Which is as daft as it sounds)


Vinyl customisations are limited to number plates and stripes at the moment (Never been good at the livery making part)

So week and a day into Xbox ownership, and it is better in almost every way than a PS2, except for reliability, as the disc reader stopped working...

I found that playing offline is a lot better than I was anticipating. The only game which would genuinely be better online is TDU 2, which suffers from having a fair bit online content only. (A casino, multiplayer racing, DLC...)

On Forza 4 I now have a Ford RS200 is white with blue and red stripes, a Nissan 260SX (Note the number...) Pushing out 500 bhp currently, with nearly 1000bhp potentially, and the mental Ford Focus off Forza 3.




No pics yet, as I haven't found a way of transferring them from the Xbox to the computer to upload them. The PS2 trick of copying onto a USB stick doesn't work...

Any ideas?
