A wee waft of steam...

For the record my Cerb has been rock solid reliable of late (reaches for the nearest wooden object!) with the exception of the rattling exhaust that's annoying!
That said my senses are in a constant state of high alert whilst driving the Cerb looking for any unusual sounds or smells that might indicate something is not quite right, probably unjustified but nevertheless this is the reality, more so whilst sat in traffic.
Anyway yesterday whilst sat in traffic for 5 mins or so in roadworks a waft of steam came from under the bonnet on the nearside. Panic set in as I immediately thought I was going to overheat and be stranded on the side of the road. After a few moments I regained my composure and began to think logically about the situation and concluded that it must be residual screen wash from when I had squirted my washers a couple of miles back and only now, whilst stationary, had it trickled into the engine bay and onto the manifolds.
A quick check when I arrived at my destination confirmed nothing seemed to be abnormal and calm returned.
As I rarely, if ever, have driven the Cerb in conditions that might require the squirters to be used, I just wanted to check to see if my diagnosis would seem to be correct and that this is not uncommon

Good advice. Had some serious issues with my Tuscan overheating, finally traced to a faulty thread on the filler cap. Didn't have much time to look in any detail yesterday but might pop the bonnet and leave it running next time it's up to temp and see how the fans are working, the neighbours love it when I leave the car running on the drive

Check the Y piece under the expansion bottle, and the short hose from there to the block/head. Mine used to do this, could never find where it was coming from, until it "let go" mid MOT, found it then lol
Another good suggestion. I did have the expansion tank off a while ago to get the starter motor in and out - not necessarily best practice but I didn't want to mess around taking the fuel rails off!So it could well be something to do with that. I shall be giving it a thorough inspection over the weekend
(I'm deliberately ignoring OS' comments about gaskets, for now, in the hope that it's nothing as serious as that!)

First my 'Y' piece cracked (It's of a weaker construction than mini gardening hosepipe connectors).
I replaced it with a Brass one from CT.
Then the hose clip for the return pipe to the header tank worked-loose and had to be re-tightened.
