Seeing as I live down here now I've kind of adopted Saints as my second team to support.

I just don't understand how anyone can take pleasure from the situation Pompey are in. Lots of ordinary folk are going to lose their jobs because of this.

Pompey lot had no sympathy for us did they?
I have sympathy for the backroom staff who will lose jobs....& for the few Pompey fans who had sympathy for us.

If I was a Rotherham, Luton or Leeds supporter I'd be totally pissed off at the leniency shown to pompey.

Since when did cheating your way up the leagues, spending far more money than other clubs trying to survive, warrant sympathy?

What leniency?

The first time we entered administration was after the owner used the clubs money (and sold the majority of the squad) to fund his failing business elsewhere.

The second time fair enough - the owner borrowed too much and overspent.
Look at the finances of well run clubs such as Fulham and Bolton - they are far more in debt than we ever were.

None of the other clubs so far appear to have had their ownership passed around offshore between alternating dodgy Arabs and Russians... let alone had convicted fraudsters allowed to run them whilst they were stripped bare.

Have a read of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Al-Faraj - our problems go far deeper than merely overspending.

One of the major problems here is the "fit & proper person" test the FA/Premier League uses to see if someone should be allowed to buy into a football club.

Have a look at my "Saab Gone?" thread over in General Gassing. The European Investment Bank, the Swedish Government and General Motors all knew there was something dodgy about Antonov and all insisted that any further investment that he wanted to make in Saab did not come from any bank he actually owned. Surprise, surprise, he couldn't make that condition and didn't take over the company.

The FA/Premier League?

"Sure, come in, have a cup of coffee. How much have you got? You're a fit and proper person,"
