I've been looking at dozens of options recently, but trying to find a used M-Sport 320d/325d/330d with the 18' wheels, iDrive/nav, less than 80,000 miles and xenons in a colour other than black is a nightmare.

Obviously i could get one if i upped my budget to about 20k but at the moment it's about 12k.

I saw a 325i without the xenons but it had lemon interior and was an auto. I'd settle for an auto but only if it had everything frown

Ive tried ebay, autotrader, BMW used, PH, everywhere.

How far/long have you gone trying to find the perfect spec car for you?

Thankfully the car i'm getting has the least options of the whole range! Makes things a bit easier, apart from paint...

Yep. I spent ages looking for a good Alfa 145 QV in red or blue with a tan leather interior. After about four months I got bored and gave up.

That said exactly the right car for me might not exist. I think it would start off with a Porsche 924/944 layout - not because I'm a raving porschephile, but simply because the transaxle layout allows classic GT proportions and good weight distribution, despite 2+2 seating and a decent boot. After that it needs a more powerful, more sonorous engine - maybe a V6 of some description - in there, along with beefed up brakes, a limited slip diff and a nice six speed manual transmission. It'd have to be capable of returning over 30mpg in mixed use with faultless reliability.

That said, I'd also settle for a slightly scaled up Z3M Coupe with a larger boot. Or maybe a significantly miniaturised Ferrari FF. Possibly a somewhat re-engineered TVR 350i FHC.

BMW 330d M Sport, grey, xenons and satnav 77k miles

Not sure if the wheels are 18 but sure you could easily sell the larger ones and make some money swapping for smaller, dealer would probably do a free swap for you.

Good old PH.

I prefer blue but that's not bad. Checked their website and it appears gone frown

In blue as requested, Offer 12k and sell the CSL wheels for a profit (though they look good)

Leather and Nav in the add and photo looks like xenons are there too.

Funnily enough I was looking for the exact same car in 2004. After a long and exhaustive search for my perfect red 145 QV I bought a blue 146ti.

I'm quite good at doing that though. My search for a red MINI with white roof turned up a green one with black roof, and my search for a blue or yellow Elise ended with the purchase of a red one!

Oh, I don't think you're the first to have the problem of wanting a specific car but having a nightmare trying to find the right options combinations. I had it with my Corsa (which doesn't even offer many options).

How do you keep finding these? I trawl the classifieds and never find them!

No i never have a problem because i accept i am buying a used car for a budget. If i didn't have a budget then and only then can i start wanting X,Y,Z.

Every car i have ever owned has been a compromise of some sort. People will search and search for a car of a certain spec car while at the same time they are eliminating other good or even better cars that may just not have exactly what you want.

Everyones different though.

There is another for you just to prove they are out there, says every option but not sure it has xenon lights from the photos, could do with a front on shot.
