Has anyone tried the two to be able to make a reasonable comparison?

I have T1Rs at the moment but they're almost finished. I'd like something with a stiffer construction but I also like the wet weather capability of the T1R. Longevity, noise etc aren't.massive issues for me, so i'm really asking for comparisons on construction stiffness and dry/wet grip.

Or alternatively any other suggestions? Tyre size is 195/50 15.

A friend runs uniroyal RS2s on his MX5 and we're not conviced they're any stiffer than the T1Rs. I'm really looking for something with a track biased construction but with good wet weather performance as well.

Paradas on my MX5 for the last 20,000 miles.. Pretty terrible in the wet, sticky in the dry/warm. Wear rate was excellent, only replaced them now at 20k because I was bored of them.

I think the sidewall is softer than a T1R though.

Track biased construction and good wet weather performance - I could only suggest full wets - none of the track biased rubber I've tried was anything other than frankly scary in the wet.... (except at an airfield track day but that surface was a bit special)

I'd go for a good road tyre - after all you can use the full performance of your weapon in the wet anyway

Go for Parada's out of those 2, the Integra had T1R's on when I bought, couldn't wait to get them off the car to be honest.

In 195 15' the T1R is one of the worst tyres you could use having had them on an integra they ruined the cars precise feel and pin sharp turn in and they were rubbish in the wet and in the cold.

Interesting, I've found the car to be very confidence inspiring in the cold and wet, but its the pin sharp turn in im chasing down. What tyres to you choose to improve it?

I didn't like the T1Rs either ( although not on a DC2 ) but the R1Rs seem ok

Budget depends on the improvement I'm gonna see. I'd pay double what a Toyo costs if it offered similar grip levels and a much better turn in. So say 80 quid a corner.

Pirelli P Zero Nero has very stiff sidewall/construction. Not great in the wet though...

Uniroyal Rainsport 2 and T1-R both have a soft sidewalls. The flex is pretty bad on my 306 with 195/50/15 tyres. No confidence in them at high speeds or turn in.

Look elsewhere.

20k out of them?! Christ, I've destroyed the P Zeros on my car in 12k ish, the first set of rears lasted 5-6k including a handling day.

Do I have a heavy right foot?!
It had new T1Rs this morning, so I'll be interested to see how they last.

The Toyos are finished and I've changed to Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2s on the recommendation of an MX5 owner. We'll see how they are once scrubbed in but initial feel is promising.

Are you sure you're not confusing the RS2 for Rain Experts? The RS2s are - as the name suggests - the sport version and have noticeably stiffer sidewalls over the REs.

Agreed on this, though the RS2s get a bit sketchy-feeling in the wet when they're half worn, or least did on my MR2 through a couple of sets. It seems like something goes off in the compound and they really start to move around a lot, it's quite disconcerting at first.

I've heard nothing but good things about the AD08s.

I can be a little 'vacant' at times but not so much that I don't know what tyres I've sourced and had fitted to my car.

I drove 10k on them before finally selling the car. The first 3k was a nightmare as stated above but after that they finally seemed to scrub in and were actually very good.

I'd say give them a chance but prepare for initial poor performance.
