last week i purchased a jeep grand cherokee 4.0l for my daily driver, and to be honest i dont mind it,it goes well enough,comfortable plus all the essential toys etc.
tonight (monday)i got out my esprit for a run and WOW what a difference,you dont realise the level of response until you drive something like the jeep,with its roll and sloppy steering etc. i cant tell you how much i appreciate my esprit now.
i really enjoyed my blast and would reccomend to anyone getting a little tired of their esprit to use a 'tank' for a bit then you'll realise how good your car is.

I drive a diesel van all week (full of tools and with ladders on the roof),my other drive is a 1.1 litre saxo.

Yep me too, Jeep Wrangler for dog/skiing/hillwalking/work and Esprit for fun.
While I appreciate and love both cars I find both incredible fun though I have to watch I do not approach corners at Lotus speeds in the Jeep.

I know Adrian Mugridge who owns a Sport350 also drives a Nissan Micra, so it's fair to say there isn't much difference there LMAO!
I too have been driving a Nissan Micra 1.0L (courtesey car) for the last month whilst my other car is in the garage. Now that is slow and dog rough on handling!

well the S4 is for the weekend, the Smart car is for work & the bedford rascal is to put the mountainbike in. There is no one car that does the lot, anyone think of a car that has the boot space of the van, fuel economy of the smart (£13 to fill it for 200 miles around town!) but the performace of the Esprit? Until someone designs that car we will always have a traffic problem!

Hmm, Lotus Carlton? Big boot, fast, luxurious and sporty in its' own right, not sure about the gas though.

very true... When my car decides to take some time off, I get to borrow my Dad's Dodge Ram quadcab truck (I could practically be sitting on the roof of my Lotus, and it's twice as long, and weighs twice as much).

main differences-
Dodge- floor the gas pedal on the highway, it downshifts... almost nothing happens
Lotus- something happens

Dodge- turn wheel. truck tries to flip over
Lotus- car turns.

That said, it has come in useful for moving, carrying over one passenger, camping, towing cars/lumber/big screen tvs/etc and I've often been glad I have use of it. I'll probably buy a truck of my own at some point. I'm always happy to get the Lotus back

I have a Triumph TR7 Drophead, which to be fair is now a restoration project. Been vastly negleted since having the Esprit. Daily, mundane load carrying drive is a 2.0td Astra Estate, Not that interesting. The acceleration is erm, best not mention it but once moving the handleing is surprisingly good. Did have Lotus sprinkle some magic dust on it. A majour plus is the fuel bill. 80mph cruising returns over 50mpg so unlike the Esprit I fill up about once a month as opposed to once or even twice a trip.

Still need my weekly Esprit fix but does help increase the grin when I do.
