Connecting Jump Leads.
Discussion
A bit of help needed Please.
Car will not start ( STARTER DOESNT TURN ) Just lowered back to ground off axle stands.
Have left car to long and battery now low. Still got fuel pump priming and lights but dimmer lights.
Is there an easier way than connecting to the battery to give a quick boost to spin the starter and start up.
I guess i should have connected my cable and anderson connector before actually needing it.
Any advice appreciated.
Neil.

You're right to be cautious. Putting two jump leads into the footwell is not a good idea IMHO. You only need one to pop off in there with the crap access that you've got and you could have a lot of sparking and heat going on in there. You could put the +ve connection onto the battery (use an insulated handle type clamp in case it falls over or get someone to steady it and connect the -ve to a clean point of the chassis, engine, starter motor bracket etc. That's actually the way you're supposed to use jump leads anyhow to get maximum volts to your starter, although most people put them both onto the battery.Car will not start ( STARTER DOESNT TURN ) Just lowered back to ground off axle stands.

If you've got the time, charging the battery up is probably the best option overall.
Best thing to do is to go out and buy a battery conditioner, will save you all the problems in the future, they don't need many hours to give enough charge to the battery so you can start it. Jump starting can cause problems to your ecu unit, which a few hours of waiting will save you a lot of money if ecu has problems.
I have done one other thing, I cut the front of my battery box out so I can take my battery out.( The bolts holding the box in place from underneath were just turning). I then cut a piece of perspex to cover the hole when battery is in place.( Velcro both sides to hold it in place works wonders.
As you are aware all relays and cables are normally just put on top of battery which is a problem just waiting to happen, I bought a plastic cutting board and put on top of battery to isolate all cables and relays from battery.
This is just somethings I have done that makes my life so much more easier :-)

Thanks Guys.
All sorted. Charged battery for about 45mins and started first attempt.
Connected positive direct to the battery ( carefully ) and the negative to the lifting bracket on the engine.
Then had a great 60 mile run out in the sun.
Will have to connect and plumb in cable and run the anderson somewhere up the front for easy access in the future.
