How do you lift a G4

My G4 (DARE 2.0 zetec) has a leaky oil pan. My mechanic does not know how to lift the car without compromising the body shell.

Any thoughts about how to safely tackle the problem?

This is a noob question so please don't flame me, but is this really such an issue?

I'd have thought the car would need lifting for lots of reasons - like changing a tyre - so it can't be too hard?

Or am I missing something very obvious?

I'm hoping it's not that hard, as I'm looking into getting a G4 again (meeting the misses kinda put my G4 plans on hold for a while) and I'd expect this kind of thing to be an occational serviceing requirement?
