Hi hope someone out there can spread some light on a slight problem with my 83 sc. Its juddering and vibrating at gear stick when setting off in first. If you rev it a bit more or hold your foot on clutch slightly itS better, also in reverse its the same. all other gears fine and some times first ok car just had 12k service and is a above condition not sure wether its a clutch job or wether its adjustment Power is good and doesnt seem to drag revs seem ok any help is very kind.
Thanks

Sounds like one of the gearbox shafts' syncos is having a problem - best get it checked out ASAP.
I wouldn't drive it, you could make it worst - get it checked out.

Even the finests have problems sometimes.

I doubt it's a synchro problem unless it's difficult to pull out of thse gears. Often it's just a clutch issue - sticking selector fork I'd reckon.

The short shift does tighten up the action - may not alter the distance of the throw in the lateral plane, but the 'box is a lot more positive in its action.

Factory short shift kit comes with the gearstick and shorter ball joint already attached - straight in and out job. Aftermarket involves you having to heat up the stick to remove the joint and then glue the new one on. Not difficult, but not a 5 minute job either, but worth the effort.
