Damp patch on boot floor.

I have a small but increasing damp patch on the drivers side just to the right of the raised part where the frame sits underneath. None of the other carpet is damp and it looks like it's spread from the centre out. I don't think it's the boot seal so am wondering if there is some sort of packing above the exhaust that is saturated and leaking upwards through a crack or missing bolt or suchlike.

It's a bit hard to see under there without removing the exhaust so wondered if there is anything I can check from the top by removing the carpets.

Exhaust heat may have damaged bodywork and allowed road water to get in?
Maybe stick some heat proof barrier between exhaust and body?

Check to see if the seal around the fuel filler neck is ok.

It's not exactly above where your damp patch is but is worth a check.
