steel crank

hi all has anyone on here tried fitting a steel crank with welded webs in an early 4.2 and found that it hits the bottom of the linners,i guess the linners have to be trimmed down or am i way off the mark here thanks

any late crank with the bigger webs will foul you need to replace the liners with later ones

Could you stick the crank in a lathe and trim the counterweight at the point of contacy or mill off a flat? I've done that before and then done a balance job.

they sit flush in the block no protrusion below the casting, next problem is try finding any sorry but you will struggle

Not sure about your engine but notching liners isn't usually to difficult.

i cant see a problem as the bit that fouls the crank has no contact with piston its just a bit that dangles in the way lol i see no reason for it being there other than the liners are made for another engine and thats what melling used (coz he got em cheap from india lol)
